Singapore Experiencing Hazy Conditions Due To Smoke Blown From Indonesia's Sumatra

SINGAPORE, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- Singapore has been experiencing hazy conditions on Tuesday due to smoke haze from Sumatra being blown in by the prevailing south-southwesterly winds. The National Environment Agency (NEA) said, as at 5pm Tuesday, the 24-hr pollutant standards index (PSI) was 91-106, in the high end of the moderate range to the low end of the unhealthy range and the 1-hr PM (particulate matter) was 85-106 µg/m³. For the rest of Tuesday and Wednesday, the prevailing winds are forecast to blow from the south or southwest, and hazy conditions are expected to persist. Thundery showers are forecast for Singapore in the morning. The 24-hr PSI for the next 24 hours is expected to be in the low to mid end of the unhealthy range, and may further deteriorate if the winds are unfavourable. --BERNAMA
