Maternity hospital opens in city's district

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A 150-bed maternity hospital called “Amgalan” opened October 1 built with a funding from the state budget. The Chairman of the State Great Khural (parliament) Z.Enkhbold gave a speech at the opening ceremony. He said the hospital is a result of government's actions for the health of mothers and children. The birth rate doubled in the last 15 years, reaching 81 thousand births in 2014, and “we welcomed our three millionth citizen in 2015”, he noted. In Mongolia, a quality of and access to maternal health services have been improving dramatically, having reduced the maternal mortality rate six times against 1990. “These became possible thanks to the hard work of doctors and nurses, who had worked tirelessly for the sake of mothers and children’s health". He advised staffers of the hospital to always learn the latest technologies, for the fact that “Amgalan” maternal hospital is equipped with hi-tech. “Healthy children come from healthy mothers. It is the state’s sacred responsibility to attach exclusive importance to health of mothers and children, as the children are Mongolia’s future”, he said. The Speaker also said the problems regarding maternal health will be settled when a 300-bed maternity hospital will be commissioned in Khan-Uul district.
