MARITIME LOGISTICS PROGRAMME TO ADDRESS KEY ISSUES AND CHALLENGES

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31 (Bernama) -- A two-day programme on maritime logistics will be held here on Jan 17-18.

The aim of the programme is to address key issues and challenges as well as
provide the Malaysian maritime industry with strategies and solutions.

Jointly organised by the University of Kuala Lumpur and the De Ruyter
Maritime Institute,Netherlands, the programme is an unique opportunity to gain
practical advice and information from European experts.

At the same time, it will help equip the Malaysian maritime industry with
the essential tools, techniques and technologies to enhance its business
competitiveness.

In a statement Tuesday, the organisers said the derived demand for maritime
transport had evolved from that for the possession of goods to an integrated
one, with added value, reliability and cost-efficiency.

This has given rise to the concept of maritime logistics, which represents
the theme of the special programme which also has the Pelorus Intelligence and
Technology Academy as a co-organiser.

The event will discuss the evolution of maritime logistics concepts and
review its contributions for further integration of ideas from a global
perspective.

Among the topics to be discussed is the latest maritime logistics
developments in North West Europe and its impact on Southeast Asia.

Certificates of participation will be jointly issued by the De Ruyter
Maritime Institute and the Universiti of Kuala Lumpur.
