Ex-Thai minister bestowed ASEAN People's Award

BANGKOK, November 10 (TNA) - A former female Thai minister attached to the prime minister's office, Dr. Saisuree Chutikul, has been selected to win the ASEAN People's Award for her outstanding performance on widely supporting and promoting the people-oriented ASEAN Community (AC). Jakkrit Srivali, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of ASEAN Affairs, told journalists on Tuesday that Thailand has nominated Dr. Saisuree, who is also a Thai expert and senior acedemic on women and children, as a candidate for the honourable regional prize. Jakkrit said that Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak will present the ASEAN People's Award to the ex-Thai minister after the official opening of the 27th ASEAN Summit and related forums, to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital, from November 21-22.
