PALESTINIAN HEALTH MINISTER RECEIVES MEDICINES FROM INDONESIA

Amman, Jan. 4 (ANTARA) - Palestinian Health Minister dr Fathi Abu Moughli here on Saturday officially received the Indonesian Government's assistance consisting of two tons of medicines worth Rp300 million and a cash amounting to Rp2 billion, to help Palestinians injured in the Israeli military attacks.

The humanitarian assistance was presented by dr Rustam S Pakaya, the Indonesian health ministry's Crisis Center Head, and Aidil Chandra Salim, the Indonesian foreign ministry's Middle East Director.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had earlier stated that Indonesia was committed to providing a total assistance of one million US dollars and medicines to help the Palestinians currently being targets of Israeli air strikes in Gaza.
The Palestinian health minister expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian government for the humanitarian assistance and support to the Palestinian people so far.
The Indonesian humanitarian team among others comprising Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-c) Director dr Joserizal Jurnalis, dr Agus Kooshartoro of the Indonesian Red Crescent, and several journalists, left Jakarta for Jordan last Thursday (Jan. 1), to deliver assistance for Palestine.
From Jordan, the Indonesian team will proceed to Egypt to make preparations for the opening of a temporary field hospital in Rafah, a border area close to the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli military aggression has killed more than 400 Palestinians and injured over 1,600 others since its brutal attacks on Dec. 27, 2008.
