Iranian public suspicious of UK: MP

TEHRAN, Nov. 22 (MNA) – Senior Iranian MP, Boroujerdi, met with his British counterpart, Blunt, discussing the latest regional developments with focus on war on terror. "The public opinion of Iranians is negative and sensitive toward the UK and it is up to the British government to amend the image with constructive steps," said Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Chairman of Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission in his meeting with visiting Crispin Blunt, Tory MP and Foreign Affairs select committee chairman. At the beginning of the meeting, Boroujerdi criticized the inefficient services provided by the British Embassy to Tehran urged the Cameron's side British lawmaker for easing the visa issuance services to the Iranians. "To the Islamic Republic of Iran, terrorism, in any form at any place around the globe, is a heinous act deserving strong condemnation," affirmed the Iranian lawmaker referring to Paris Attacks of last week. Condemning the attacks, he also lamented that terrorism is currently threatening the peace and tranquility of the world. After years that Iraq, Syria and other countries of the region are suffering from terrorism, the training and arming helps to terrorists provided by the Westerners and their regional allies have bolstered the terrorists and led to the spread of the phenomenon to other parts of the world, regretted the senior Iranian MP. He asserted that finding the roots of trouble in Syria and other terror-torn countries of the region considerably contributed to the solution for the crises of the Middle East. The British chair of the foreign affairs select committee, for his part, voiced content with his travel to Tehran and his meeting with Iranian officials saying that Iran has been a great civilization in the world that is playing more strongly on the international scene of events. The British MP noted that his travel to Tehran along with two other British delegations to nine capital cities of the region was intended to find unanimity in dealing with the ISIL and other terrorist groups in Syria. "Considering that the Islamic Republic is after the eradication of terrorists in Syria and the UK holds the same approach, I hope that the visit contributes to finding commonalities between Tehran and London to form a stronger front against terrorism," stated Mr. Blunt. A conservative member of British Parliament, Crispin Blunt found his way to Westminster in 1997 for Reigate and Banstead constituency and ever since has been a member of House of Commons. As the chair of the foreign affairs select committee, he assumed office on June 18, 2015. In his 3-day visit to Tehran, Mr. Blunt is slated to meet with a host of Iranian officials including Ali Akbar Velayati and Kamal Kharrazi, two former Iranian foreign ministers. Prior to his travel to Tehran, Blunt said his 11-strong committee, split into three groups, was travelling to nine Middle Eastern capital cities to gauge the mood and the prospect that a political settlement can be reached. http://en.mehrnews.com/news/112145/Iranian-public-suspicious-of-UK-MP
