Laos targets 25 gold medals at 25th SEA Games

(KPL) Laos is nurturing a hope to gain 25 gold medals at the 25th Southeast Asia (SEA) Games which will be held in Laos for the first time in December 2009, said NAM News Network.
“Our target is to win 25 gold medals, but the athletes will have to win by fair means,” SEA Games Organising Committee Chairman and Standing Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad was quoted as saying at a meeting held by the Lao National Sports Committee early this week to prepare for the Games.
“We will not tolerate any form of cheating, especially the usage of drugs, and if any referee is biased we will reprimand him,” Somsavat said.
Seven hundred cars and buses will be used to transport athletes and officials during the SEA Games period from December 9 to 18, he added.
Touching on the social affairs of this sports event, the Deputy PM said that the organising committee will be selecting female ambassadors for the SEA Games on New Year’s Eve and the winners will be crowned and awarded the title, Miss SEA Games.
As scheduled, the Lao National Sports Committee will meet again on January 2 to discuss the budget for the games, according to the news network.
