UAE CABINET CONDEMNS ISRAEL OVER GAZA ATTACKS
DUBAI, Jan 6 (Bernama) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has joined a long
list of countries in condemning Israel for its continuing offensive in the Gaza
Strip which has been dominating headlines since last week.
The UAE said the Israeli aggression constituted an unequivocal violation of
the international laws that protected civilians and safeguarded their rights
during war times, state media reported, quoting a statement issued after the
UAE cabinet meeting Monday.
The cabinet voiced support for the Arab and international efforts aimed at
reaching a ceasefire in Gaza and at providing the right climate for boosting
the Middle East peace process and for reaching a just and comprehensive peace.
It also expressed its firm support for the Palestinian people's rights in
setting up their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, WAM said.
As the number of Palestinian casualties continue to mount as a result of
Israeli aerial bombardments and ground assaults, the cabinet expressed
solidarity with the Palestinian people and sympathy with families of the
victims.
