Car Parts Export One Of Top Categories For Malaysia's Retail Exporters On eBAY

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- The export of car parts is one of the top categories for Malaysia's retail exporters on eBay with the US as the Number One destination market. According to a survey conducted by eBay, an online shopping platform, 47 per cent of the US vehicle owners had purchased car parts and accessories (P&A) online and that 23 per cent were likely to do so in the future. "This presents a huge opportunity for Malaysian P&A vendors to set up their online presence and to focus on cross-border trade," eBay said in a statement Wednesday. The survey also revealed that 67 per cent of the consumers had conducted research on vehicles via their mobile devices, with one in five saying that they 'always' or 'very often' did so. "This is an opportunity for Malaysian car retail entrepreneurs and vendors to use eBay as a platform for their business. "Export of car parts is a fast growing category on eBay," it said. eBay Malaysia's CBT Country Head, Wong Mei Inn, said together with the platform's seller education and development programmes, the time was right for local car parts sellers to start venturing into exports to drive more revenue. "It gives opportunities to car parts retailers, from entrepreneurs to manufacturers, to penetrate the global market," Wong said. Wong said eBay was committed to working together with the Malaysian government to encourage small and medium enterprises' participation in export business via e-commerce. eBay said Jdm-motorparts was an example of a Malaysian company that has leveraged on its business platform to expand globally. "From its business premises in Selangor, the company specialises in selling new and second-hand car parts to countries like the UK, US and Australia," it said. --BERNAMA
