BANGKOK, December 24 (TNA) - Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai has convened representatives of the private sector, the civil society and relevant agencies to brief them on the revised legislation and measures against the illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Don informed Thursday's meeting of many legal amendments to facilitate solutions, including amendments to an anti-human trafficking law, the adjusted procedures of public prosecutors and courts in handling human trafficking cases, efficiency in identifying human trafficking victims and a new fishing law.
The minister said he expects the meeting, aimed at demonstrating that all concerned parties in Thailand are seriously tackling the issue, should result in better solutions in the future.
Attendees at the Ministry of Thai Foreign Affairs in Bangkok include representatives of the Board of Trade of Thailand, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), the Thai Frozen Foods Association, the Thai Shrimp Association and the Thai Tuna Industry Association. (TNA)
