Lao government concentrates five strategies for sixth five year plan development
(KPL) The Lao government has concentrated its work to develop five main strategies for implementing its sixth five year plan. These included the long term strategy of socio-economic development to the year 2020; the strategy on industrialization and modernization; the national growth and poverty eradication strategy; the regional development strategy; various sector, thematic area and sub-esctor strategies and plan; and the analysis of the international and domestic contextx for the development of the Lao PDR.
The sixth five year national socio-economic development plan or sixth plan covering the five year period 2006-2010 plays a crucial role in implementing the socio-economic development policy guidelines set out by the 7th Party Congress.
It is the vehicle for facilitating the implementation of the second half of the socio-economic development strategy (2001-2010) approved by the congress. Thus, the sixth plan institutionalizes and concretiozes directives and tasks that will be carried out further during the five year period 2006-2010, to ensure that the overall targets outlined in the ten-year strategy 2001-2010 are achieved.
