“Thailand Week" trade fairs to be held in South Asia
BANGKOK, January 4 (TNA) - In an attempt to boost Thai exports, the Ministry of Commerce plans to organise "Thailand Week" trade fairs in South Asian cities this year, including those in India and Bangladesh.
Malee Chokelumlert, Director-General of the ministry’s Department of International Trade Promotion, told journalists on Monday that Thailand should not overlook South Asian markets, where there are a total population of over 1.6 billion with positive economic prospects and rising purchasing power.
Malee said India, in particular, is considered one of the world's economic superpowers; so, her department realises the importance of South Asian markets.
In 2016, Malee noted, her department plans to organise "Thailand Week" trade fairs in Dhaka, Bangladesh’s capital, during March 16 -19,
followed by Chandigarh City in India’s northern region during March 30–April 3.
According to the senior official, the third and fourth "Thailand Week" trade fairs will be organised in India’s Bangalore and Chennai Cities later this year. (TNA)
