Thailand's southern train service disrupts following fatal crash
PETCHABURI, THAILAND, January 8 (TNA) - Thailand's southern train service has been disrupted following a fatal crash between a cow truck and a passenger train in Phetchaburi Province on Friday morning.
Trains from Bangkok toward the Thai South have, thus, been stopped at Phetchaburi and Hua Hin Train Stations, while passengers have been
transported on road.
The incident happened to the southbound Train No. 255 at the Ton Mamuang level crossing in Phetchaburi's Muang District at 10:38am, derailing five carriages and killing at least three people and injuring over 30 others.
Wuthichart Kalyanamitra, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), later inspected the scene, where the cow truck broke through a barrier and collided with the train.
An official probe found that the level crossing at the scene was manned and equipped with a barrier, but the truck broke through it. (TNA)
