'Fonebud' Brand Draws Attention At Las Vegas Electronics Show
By Manik Mehta
LAS VEGAS, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- Smartphone companion Fonebud Essential Plus showcased by Penang-based Pensonic Holdings Bhd at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) here has generated considerable interest from buyers.
Pensonic Group Chief Executive Officer Dixon Chew said he was overwhelmed with the response from trade visitors and concluded "a couple of deals' for the Fonebud series at the fair.
He said the company also received “excellent business enquiries” from buyers from Japan, Hong Kong and the US.
"In general, we are satisfied with our second participation at the annual show. We get the opportunity not only to exhibit our products but also the
exposure to similar products and latest technologies displayed," he told Bernama on the sidelines of CES here.
The Fonebud Essential Plus is a culmination of a collaboration between Pensonic and Bayan Lepas-based Sunweu Sdn Bhd.
The leaders of both companies conceptualised and developed the device by tapping into Pensonic's strength in branding, product development and supply
chain management, and Sunweu’s knowledge and experience in marketing and distribution of international mobile phone accessory brands.
The Fonebud Smart Companion Series are portable power sources for the smartphone, tablets and other mobile USB devices, and more. They function as a backup phone with blue-tooth connectivity, tracking device, personal distress alarm and other useful features, rendering them the best travel companion to
have with you at all times.
This innovative brand was called "Fonebud" and the product was named "Fonebud Essential Plus".
Meanwhile, Malaysian Trade Commissioner in Los Angeles Rusiah Mohamed said Malaysian exporters of electrical and electronic products would continue to gain ground in the US.
Core products needed include electronic integrated circuits, semiconductors, navigation aids and other electrical and electronic components used in the
manufacture of consumer electronic products, she added.
"Demand for electrical apparatus for telephony or line telephones is expected to remain strong, along with radar apparatus/ navigation aids, allowing for further Malaysian exports of these products," she added.
