Malaysia Airlines CEO To Speak At Singapore Airshow Aviation Leadership Summit

SINGAPORE, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines' (MAS) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Christoph Mueller, will be one of the main speakers at the Singapore Airshow Aviation Leadership Summit (SAALS). The two-day summit, from Feb 14, 2016, will be held at the Raffles City Convention Centre here. "His attendance is a very important indication ... very important manifestation of how important not only to the airshow but the conference," Experia Events' Managing Director, Leck Chet Lam, told Bernama. Experia Events specialises in organising and managing conferences, exhibitions and trade events. It has built a strong portfolio in aerospace and defence with Singapore Airshow, Asia's largest aerospace and defence exhibition. Together with Etihad Airways' CEO, James Hogan, and four other speakers, Mueller will be on a panellist session that will discuss "Global Air Hubs - Is this the Future or the Past? Themed "Aviation Tomorow: Managing New Challenges, Realising New Potentials", SAALS will be held in conjunction with the Singapore Airshow 2016 (SA2016). The six-day SA2016 is Asia's largest aerospace and defence exhibition which will be held from Feb 16. On Malaysia's participation at this year's airshow, Leck said, that "it will be the same level of participation like before." In the factsheet given to the media, Malaysia is one of the 20 country groups that had confirmed the participation. Others are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, Romania, UK and the US. Royal Malaysia Air Force's Su-30MKM is one of the participants in the aerial displays. Other flying display teams include Black Eagles Aerobatic Team of Korea Air Force, F-15SG & AH-64D Integrated Display of Singapore Air Force, Rafale of French Air Force, and F-16C/D Fighting Falcon of US Air Force. During his presentation, Leck said, the airshow will see some 1,000 participations from 50 countries. "Over 75 per cent are returning exhibitors," he said, adding that Philippines and Indonesia will have their country pavillions for the first time at this year's airshow. Leck said there will be three new editions of Business Forum on top of Asia Business Forum. The new business forums are France-Singapore Business Forum; Aerospace Emerging Technologies Business Forum; and, Training & Simulation Business Forum. At 2014 edition, Singapore Airshow managed to record US$32 billion US$1 = RM4.25) worth of deals. --BERNAMA
