World Bank To Release Enterprise Survey Findings By June
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- The World Bank will release its Enterprise Survey (ES) findings, which gauged business experiences involving 1,000 Malaysian firms by this June.
Its Development Economics, Global Indicators Group Adviser, Melissa Marie Johns, said the ES collected firm-level face-to-face survey data in 135 economies.
"It also interviewed the top management, went into detailed assessments on how these firms run their businesses," she said.
She said ES covered a broad range of topics, including access to finance, corruption, infrastructure, crime, competition and performance measures.
"We (World Bank) are then able to identify the characteristics of Malaysian firms who excell and those who fall behind and see if there are any particular regulations that affect small and large firms to help policymakers," she told reporters here Wednesday.
The press conference was in conjunction with 'Doing Business 2017 - The Way Forward for Malaysia' workshop which marks the maiden collaboration between PEMUDAH's Special Task Force to Facilitate Business and the World Bank.
The three-day workshop, involving key government agencies officials, industry associations and firms in Malaysia, is expected to benchmark international best practices to position the country among the world's top 10 countries in the Doing Business rankings.
The ES involved over 206 survey rounds and was undertaken under a rigorous and fully comparable methodology, she said.
"The ES data were last collected in Malaysia in 2007 and data collection for the new round is ongoing," she said.
