SEA Games budget allocation discussed

(KPL) The 25th SEA Games Organising Committee met in Vientiane last Friday to discuss the budget for the games to be held in Vientiane this year’s end.
Standing Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the 25th SEA Games Organising Committee, Mr Somsavat Lengsavad, said it was difficult to balance all the various budget requests and proposals for planned events from all the parties involved.
The Ministry of Information and Culture’s organising committee said it needed 28 billion kip to prepare the opening and closing ceremonies for the games, but was asked to prepare a lower budget.
The Vientiane Urban Development and Administration Authority (VUDAA) requested more than 2 billion kip to decorate the capital for the games. It plans to build flowerbeds and install special lighting in various areas, including the main roads Lane Xang Avenue, Thadeua Road and Luang Prabang Road.
The meeting was also attended by Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office and President of the Lao National Sports Committee, Dr Phouthong Seng-akhom.
