International Arbitration Conference on Energy Disputes Opens Wednesday

Doha, February 01 (QNA) - Under the patronage of His Excellency Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada the first international arbitration conference on energy disputes opens here Wednesday. Conference attendees will mull arbitration as an effective and easy tool to resolve disputes. The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) - Qatar is organizing the conference in collaboration with the Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration, Qatar Chamber, the International Court of Arbitration, Squire Patton Boggs in Doha and Al Sulaiti Law Firm. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani , Chairman of Qatar Chamber and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Executive Board member of the ICC said that the conference comes as a continuation of the ICC's efforts to facilitate business in the State of Qatar. He went to say that the conference is a good opportunity to gather a group of experts and concerned parties to exchange their experiences, ideas and visions towards settlement of disputes, pointing out that the conference has found a big government support with participation of all local and international oil and gas companies, local and international law offices and the most prominent stakeholders. Meanwhile, Secretary General of the ICC International Court of Arbitration Andrea Carlevaris said that this conference is a good initiative in particular that the Middle East is experiencing significant growth in recent years . Head of Al Sulaiti Law Firm,Mubarak bin Abdullah Al Sulaiti noted that the energy sector is a basic and important sector in our daily lives, while saying that the legal framework ensures flow of energy easily and without any obstacles, it also ensures maximum degree of efficiency of this vital sector. He pointed out that the legal framework not only promotes and supports the national economy but it also contributes to the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030.(QNA)
