Additional flights from China expected during Chinese New Year Festival

BANGKOK, February 3 (TNA) - Aeronautical Radio of Thailand Co (AEROTHAI) expects 1,700 additional flights from China to Thailand's Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang Airports during February 3-15 for the 2016 Chinese New Year celebrations. AEROTHAI President Sarinee Sangprasit foresaw on Wednesday that more Chinese travelers would arrive in Thailand during the Lunar New Year celebration period. Sarinee said that the Suvarnabhumi International Airport alone should handle 1,000 more flights in addition to traffic in the same period last year, or a total of 12,847 flights during the period. On a daily basis, Sarinee told journalists, the Suvarnabhumi International Airport should serve 988 flights, comprising 957 regular flights and 31 extra ones. For Don Mueang Airport, Sarinee assessed, it should handle 700 more flights, compared with traffic on the same period last year, or a total of 8,733 flights during the period or 672 flights per day, consisting of 657 regular flights and 14 extra ones. According to the AEROTHAI chief, there should be 716 extra flights, or 55 daily, in Thailand, most of them will come from China. (TNA)
