PRESIDENT AGAIN SENDS HUMANITARIAN AID TO MANOKWARI

Jakarta, Jan 8 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has again sent humanitarian aid to earthquake victims in Manokwari, West Papua, conisting of nine kinds of basic necessaries.
The president's additional aid was flown to Manokwari by a Hercules C-130 aircraft whith took off from Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma airbase on Thursday.
Previously, the central government had dispatched relief aid to Manokwari at least four times. The aid from various government departments or agencies totaled 6.8 tons and consisted of dried and canned fish, family kits, family and group tents, water cleaning instruments and SAR cars.
In the meantime, humanitarian aid from the National Disaster Task Force consisted of tents, plaited mats and kitchen utensils.
On a different occasion, Army Chief of Staff Gen Agustadi Sasongko Purnomo said the quake measuring 7.6 on the Ricter Scale which rocked Manokwari district on Sunday had damaged various facilities and infrastructures of the army.
"Some of the army personnel were affected by the quake. Some of their houses and offices were severely damaged. Therefore we have to send aid there," he said.
