EU FOREIGN MINISTERS DISCUSS EU`S ENERGY SECURITY

Baku. January 9 (AzerTAc) Energy security of European Union in the light of the Russia-Ukraine gas conflict is under discussion in Prague at the informal meeting of foreign ministers of 27 EU member countries.
Czech media reports suggest that Benita Ferrero-Waldner, EU Commissioner for External relations and Neighborhood Policy is attending the meeting.
Foreign Ministers are expected to throw their support behind the Nabucco project, which is designed to transport Central Asian gas to Europe.
Russia's gas monopoly Gazprom supplies one-quarter of Europe's gas needs. Russia Participants of the meeting of EU gas coordination group will discuss gas supplies to EU on January 9 as well. Representatives of Gasprom and Naftogas of Ukraine have also been invited to the meeting.
There is no immediate danger to Russian gas supplies to European Union industry or households for now from the Russia-Ukraine gas dispute, the EU Commission said on Monday, but cautioned that the situation could change.
"We don't see any real danger to normal gas supplies to the industry either at this point in time," European Commission spokesman Tarradellas Espuny said, adding reserve stocks in the bloc remained "quite high."
