'Doing Business in the U.S.' Forum Opens Within Discover America Week

Doha, February 16 (QNA) - Doing Business in the U.S. Forum, a joint effort between the Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) and the U.S. embassy in Qatar, opened Tuesday in Doha as part of the Discover America Week. QBA Board Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassem Al-Thani said the Qatari-American ties were and remain growing in significance on all fronts and are distinguished. The two countries have close economic and commercial ties, particularly in the field of commercial exchange and investment cooperation in oil and gas, he said, adding that Qatar is the third biggest Middle East country in terms of imports from the United States. He added that the agreements and memoranda of understandings the two countries signed in the fields of economic cooperation, air services, renewable energy, technical cooperation and the protection of mutual investments indicate the depth of bilateral ties. Despite the fall in oil prices, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassem said, economic projects are going according to schedules, particularly those related to the 2022 World Cup including roads, bridges, railways, stadia and services. Sheikh Faisal added that relations between Qatar and the United States go beyond the economic arena to technology and education, pointing to the opening of branches to several U.S. universities in the Education City as student exchange between the two countries continues to increase. Discover America Week Qatar 2016 is an annual series of events celebrating the U.S. - Qatar partnership. It highlights American business innovation, travel, food, music, fashion, art, education and culture. (QNA)
