Cooperation between Russia, Bolivia dominates talks between Gazprom Chairman, Bolivian President, energy minister

BUENOS AIRES, February 19. /TASS/. Cooperation between Russia and Bolivia dominated the talks between Chairman of Gazprom Alexey Miller and Bolivia’s President Evo Morales and the country’s hydrocarbons and energy minister Luis Alberto Sanchez. The meeting also resulted in signing of three agreements, Gazprom press service said. "This is a remarkable day as we’re starting the work on (cooperation) agreement in the energy sector till 2040," President Morales said. "Bolivia’s energy sector is developing fast. The documents signed today open up new perspectives for enhancing Gazprom’s presence on this promising market," Miller said. Miller and President of the Bolivian state-owned oil and gas company YPFB Guillermo Acha signed a memorandum on strategic cooperation between the firms, which stipulates joint work on exploration, production and transportation of hydrocarbons in Bolivia as well as modernization of the country’s oil and gas infrastructure. Also, the company agreed to develop cooperation in the LNG (liquefied natural gas) sector. According to Sanchez, Gazprom is considering potential participation in development of one of Bolivia’s six fields, and both Bolivia and the company itself are interested in "its becoming the operator of one of blocks in Bolivia in the nearest years."
