Nok Air cancels 20 flights next Tuesday

BANGKOK, Feb 20 (TNA) -- Nok Air, a Thai low-cost airline, will cancel 20 domestic flights next Tuesday, nine days after it had canceled nine flights without advance notification and left thousands of passengers stranded at airports in Thailand. Chula Sukmanop, director gerneral of Airport's Department and acting director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, said Saturday he was informed by senior executives of Nok Air that it would cancel 20 domestic flights nationwide next Tuesday due to existing problems within the airline company. Mr Chula said he had already informed concerned agencies and Nok Air would provide facilities to its passengers who wish to switch to use other airlines or refunded the money. Meanwhile, Patee Sarasin, CEO of Nok Air, said his airline had requested other airlines such as Thai Airways International, Thai Smile and Thai Lion Air to take care all of its passengers. Mr Patee said his airline needed more time to restructure operations of the airline company and the upcoming cancellation is for the safety of the passengers. It is believed that disputes between pilots of those flights which were canceled on the St Valentine's Day and senior executives of Nok Air are not yet settled to date. (TNA)
