FOREIGN VEHICLES EXEMPTED FROM REAR SEAT BELT RULING
JITRA (Malaysia), Jan 9 (Bernama) -- Vehicles from foreign countries like
Singapore and Thailand which enter Malaysia are exempted from the rear seat belt
ruling, Transport Minister Ong Tee Kiat said Friday.
He said the ruling was only for Malaysian registered vehicles, but did not
rule out the possibility of it to be enforced on foreign vehicles too in future.
"But, it would be better if the rear passengers also wear the belts because
the (foreign) vehicles are already fitted with the rear seat belts," he told
reporters here Friday.
Earlier in his speech, Ong said the federal government had allocated
RM150,000 for academic and co-curriculum development at the school.
