Thailand Future Fund to be soon launched

BANGKOK, February 29 (TNA) - Thailand Future Fund is expected to be launched next month, with its total fund of 100 billion baht initially. Thai Permanent Secretary for Finance Somchai Sujjapongse told journalists of the update on Monday, saying that proceeds from the fund would be invested on the Thai government's new mega investment projects. Somchai anticipated that the Ministry of Transport should later this year sign and approve all government-sponsored projects worth 1.7 trillion baht, 60 billion baht of which should first enter the system, as proceeds from Thailand Future Fund would be invested on both Nakhon Ratchasima and Rayong motorways initially. According to the senior official, the fund mobilisation is expected to first start from individual and institutional investors at 10,000 baht per unit, with those from China and Oman having expressed interest in jointly invest in the Thailand Future Fund.
