Wharton KL Forum To Explore ASEAN’s Economic Future

KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 (Bernama) -- The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania will host its 48th Global Forum in Kuala Lumpur on March 11-12. Hosted by Malaysia's Central Bank (BNM), the forum will gather senior academic members of The Wharton School, industry captains and the most influential leaders from the world of finance, government and business to share their vision of economic growth for ASEAN. Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Governor Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz will deliver the keynote address. She is also the Honorary Chair of the forum. In a statement Wednesday, The Wharton School said the event, themed, Mobilising ASEAN: Building The Future through Partnership, provides an avenue for leaders from business, academia and government to explore strategies that address aspirations as well as risks faced by organisations of all sizes in today's interconnected business environment. Wharton’s Dean and Reliance Professor of Management and Private Enterprise, Geoffrey Garrett said he is pleased to bring Wharton to Malaysia this year to engage the brightest minds on some of the biggest challenges facing the region, and opportunities for strategic alliances. Over the two days, speakers will also share their thoughts on topics revolving around entrepreneurship, the impact of the Trans-Pacific Partnership on the business landscape and catalysing innovation and entrepreneurship through Islamic Finance. Among the speakers making presentations are Wharton's Geoffrey Garrett, Catcha Group Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Patrick Grove and the US Ambassador to Malaysia, Joseph Y.Yun. The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania was founded in 1881 as the first collegiate business school. It is recognised globally for intellectual leadership and ongoing innovation across every major discipline of business education.
