Thailand still attractive for investment

BANGKOK, March 3 (TNA) -- Thailand is still an attractive place for investment in the eyes of Japanese investors, Norio Yamaguchi, chairman of ASEAN-Japan Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee, reportedly told Industry Minister Atchaka Sibunruang. Mr Yamaguchi, accompanied by Japanese ambassador to Thailand Shiro Sadoshima, held talks with Ms Atchaka on Wednesday on industries which needed to be further developed in Japan and Thailand and on an impact Thailand is hit following an economic slowdown in China. Ms Atchaka had also briefed them on the Thai government’s policy to support investment on 10 targeted clusters industries. In response, Mr Yamaguchi said the Southeast Asia region has become more interesting for investment after the opening of the ASEAN Community (AC) and Japanese investors wanted to grow along with AC members. Telecommunication networks in the region, however, need to be further improved, he noted. Mr Yamaguchi reportedly told the Thai minister that his country’s could share knowledge with Thailand on aging society after it is learned that Thailand is gradually experiencing the problem. (TNA)
