Canberra reach W-League grand final

Canberra United have won their way into the inaugural W-League grand final with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Newcastle Jets at EnergyAustralia Stadium.

A goal from United midfielder Kara Mowbray midway through the first half proved
enough to separate the teams in a match played in high winds.
The Jets completely dominated the second half but were unable to find a way past
Canberra's Australian goalkeeper Lydia Williams.
Katie Gill, Emily van Egmond and Joanne Peters all came close for the Jets with
second half attempts on goal but they were unable to secure the equaliser.
Canberra, the only team in the competition not aligned with an A-League club, will
now face the winner of Sunday's other semi-final between Queensland Roar and Sydney
FC in the championship decider next Saturday.
