GAZA REPRESENTATIVE MOVED WITH MALAYSIANS SUPPORT

SHAH ALAM (Malaysia), Jan 10 (Bernama) -- A Gaza representative was moved by the concern expressed by Malaysians over the plight of the Palestinian people.

The representative, Naji Z A Alsarhi, said about 1.5 million Palestinians
were living under siege in Gaza.

Issuing a warning to Palestinians, who had supported the Israeli atrocities,
he said they would face the consequences for betraying their own people.

Naji hit out at the United Nations for being powerless in protecting the
rights of the Palestinians and for not being able to stop the United States'
veto of the UN Security Council resolution against the Israeli offensive.

The Arab nations should unite and not let Gaza being ravaged, he told a
rally against the Israeli offensive in Gaza at the Malawati Stadium here
Saturday.

Naji spoke in Arabic and his speech was translated into Malay by an Aman
Palestine officer.

Assemblyman Dr Zambri Abdul Kadir commended the move taken by Venezuelan
president Hugo Chavez by expelling the Israeli ambassador in Caracas, Shlomo
Cohen over the Gaza incursion.

Aman Palestine executive chairman Abdullah Zaik Abdul Rahman called on
Muslims to boycott the Israeli and American products.

About 5,000 people attended the rally during which demonstrators whacked
effigies of President George Bush and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert with
their shoes and slippers.
