MINISTRY ALLOCATES GRANTS FOR YOUNG ENTERPRENEURS
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 10 (Bernama) -- The Youth and Sports Ministry has allocated RM8 million in grants under the Young Entrepreneur Guidance Programme involving 249 schemes this year.
Each youth under the programme would be given RM3,000 in the form of
supplies to start his business without the need to pay back, Minister Ismail
Sabri Yaakob told reporters after launching the Youth 09 Fiesta here Saturday.
Last year, the grant disbursed to each participant was RM2,000 and the
increase was to encourage the involvement of youths in the industrial and
trading sectors, he said.
He said the youths would be given freedom to run their businesses but the
ministry, through its departments, would monitor their progress and give them
moral support.
"To take part, the youths only need to submit transparent and convincing
working papers for assessment by the officers at the Youth and Sports Office in
the district," he said. (US$1=RM3.60)
