Korat Zoo helps animals to cool off from the heat

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, March 18 (TNA) -- The Korat Zoo in Thailand northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima province is worried that the hot weather would distress the animals and so decided to relieve them off the heat by providing frozen food and installing the water mist system to help create cooler atmosphere for the animals. Zoo officials at the Nakhon Ratchasima Zoo located in Chai Mongkol subdistrict of the provincial seat have given block of ice containing frozen food to the animals to help them relieve the heat, such as frozen bones and fruits, as the weather in the province continues to heat up. Moreover, the zoo has also installed a mist spray system inside the cages to create cooler habitat for the animals, such as bears and serows, as well as to make adjustments to the atmosphere around the 200 acre-zoo to create a more pleasant environment. As for the water usage within the zoo, the zoo itself has already prepared an excellent plan to deal with the drought by digging up an underground water source to pump up water for usage in the zoo and extend the changing of the water within the cages to economise on the use of water during the ongoing drought.
