Bangkok Int'l Motor Show 2016 kicks off

BANGKOK, March 22 (TNA) - The 37th Bangkok International Motor Show has been inaugurated and expected to attract more than 1.5 million international visitors. The Bangkok International Motors Show was opened for the press on March 22 and will begin to welcome international visitors at the IMPACT Trade and Exhibition Centre in Muang Thong Thani on the outskirts of the capital on March 23. Prachin Eamlumnow, who heads the organising team of the grand event, set during March 22-April 3, told journalists on Tuesday that he also expected booking for cars at the 12-day fair should be around 40,000 units and more than 40 billion baht should be changed hands. Prachin said domestic sales and exports of automobiles this year are anticipated to stay at the minimum of two million units. Prachin foresaw that a hike in excisesx tax for automobiles by the Thai government since January 1, 2016 should not sway would-be car buyers, projecting that domestic car sales should be at least 800,000 units this year, while auto exports should reach 1.2 million in 2016.
