THE WORLD SHOULD HELP TO UNIFY PALESTINIANS
PETALING JAYA (Bernama), Jan 12 (Bernama) -- Palestine's ambassador to
Malaysia, Abdelaziz Aboughosh, Sunday urged the international community to help
unify the Palestinian people so they could fight their enemy.
"We are asking every nation to help unify the Palestinians. We have one
enemy which is Israel and which attacks our people. It doesn't distinguish
whether the people are from Fatah or Hamas.
"Without our unity, it is easy for the enemy to target and attack us but
united we can go against the enemy," he told about 500 people at a forum on the
aggression of Israel against Palestine at the International Islamic University
(IIUM) here Sunday.
Aboughosh said the main problem facing the Palestinians was not food or
poverty but the denial of their right to have an independent state 60 years
after being occupied by Israel.
"We are a people who want a home, we want this occupation to end. We need
action not war," he said, adding that the number of casualities had risen to
875 people killed and more than 3,800 injured.
He said Israel considered itself above the law when rejecting the United
Nation Security Council (UNSC) resolution for an immediate and continuous
ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
"Now Israel doesn't even care for any international law. It considers itself
above the law. Today, they decided to continue the war and attack the innocent
people of Palestine," he said.
Aboughosh said however Israel could not avoid being punished as it continued
its aggression and kills people.
"A leader who gives orders to kill people has to be brought to justice. We
can't let them go without being punished. We call on all our brothers and
sisters to be unified against this enemy," he said.
