Kuwait may open State Hermitage Museum affiliate - Culture Minister

EL KUWEIT, March 28. /TASS/. The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg may open its affiliate in Kuwait, Russian Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky said on Monday.
A meeting between the minister and Kuwait authorities took place on March 28.
Medinsky said such an affiliate is far more profitable for Kuwait, than, for instance, an opening of Louvre affiliate in the United Arab Emirates.
"For Middle East museums, the launch of Russian museums affiliates is more profitable," Medinsky said, adding that Russia supports the program for the establishment of major national museums abroad.
Negotiations with Mikhail Piotrovsky, the Hermitage director, can be expected in the near future, the minister said.
Earlier on Monday, Medinsky held a number of meetings, including the talks with the head of state, Amir Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Foreign Minister Sabah al-Khalid al-Hamad al-Sabah and Information Minister Salman al-Sabah al-Salim al-Sabah.
"The meeting discussed renewing a cultural blueprint agreement to replace a previously-signed one between the two sides in 1967," KUNA news agency said on Monday. "Moreover, it considered prospects for implementing the memorandum of mutual understanding signed during the recent visit of Amir Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jabir al-Sabah in Sochi."
