Alibaba to sell Thai products

BANGKOK, March 29 (TNA) - Thailand's electrical products will be, from now on, sold on the www.alibaba.com, China's giant e-commerce website, thanks to cooperation between Alibaba and Thailand's Crown Tech Advance Public Co.Ltd. (AJD). Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office ML Panadda Diskul presided over a ceremony in Bangkok on March 28 when the agreed cooperation for business alliance between Alibaba and AJD was announced. The minister said it is the right time for the business alliance as it will benefit both sides in terms of increased trade amid a global economic slowdown, while Thai products will also be promoted and known internationally. The minister stressed that the Thai government, especially the Ministry of Commerce and relevant agencies, are ready to give full support on e-commerce because it not only helps reduce costs for Thai exporters, but also creates more conveniences for buyers around the world through the online modern trade. ADJ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Amorn Meemano, meanwhile, told journalists that his company has been designated by Alibaba to recruit its new members in Thailand, targeted to reach 5,000 within this year whose purchase orders are expected to exceed 250 million baht. According to the ADJ CEO, his company cooperation with Alibaba will also help boost more exports of Thai small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). (TNA)
