Malaysian Companies In Jakarta To Promote Auto Parts

By Azeman Ariffin JAKARTA, March 31 (Bernama) -- Twelve Malaysian auto parts producers, under the aegis of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) are participating in the Indonesia International Auto Parts, Accessories & Equipment Exhibition (INAPA 2016). The four-day INAPA is the largest auto parts show in Indonesia with 1,100 exhibitors from 28 countries and is being held at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran. It began on March 29. Matrade Trade Commissioner to Indonesia, Naim Abdul Rahman said, the Malaysian companies are promoting various auto parts and components, including motorcycles, absorbers, weather strips, brake pads, heavy wheel rims, transmission parts, head up displays, alarms, sensors, lighting electronics and air conditioners. He said that through their participation, the companies have an opportunity to penetrate Indonesia, which is a big market for the automotive industry with annual auto parts imports of around US$3 billion. "Malaysia is a major supplier of auto parts to Indonesia and we hope the participants have a good opportunity to enhance their business in the country," he told Bernama here Thursday. He said Malaysia also faces stiff competition from other countries in supplying auto parts to Indonesia. "As such, Malaysian companies are advised to continue offering quality auto parts and work closely with their Indonesian distributors on effective marketing strategies. "Participating in trade events such as INAPA serves as an effective platform for Malaysian companies, to not only promote their auto parts and components in Indonesia, but more importantly meet up with the right buyers present in the market," he added. Matrade has arranged one-to-one business meetings between the Malaysian companies and Indonesian buyers during the exhibition to assist them in the goal of penetrating the auto parts market. Naim said although Indonesia's automotive sector showed a decline last year with lower vehicle production and the trend would persist in 2016, the sector’s prospects for growth is still positive, with growing imports of certain auto parts like road wheels, safety airbags, drive-axles and suspension systems. --BERNAMA
