Brazil-Based BRF S.A. To Open Office In Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) -- Brazil-based BRF S.A, a world's leading food company and poultry exporter under its flagship brand "Sadia", plans to open an office in Malaysia within the next few months. BRF Asia general manager Simon Cheng said the office would serve as BRF's national base in Malaysia and underline the importance of Malaysia to BRF. He said BRF saw promising potential to serve the Malaysian market with its leading quality and innovative products and brands, as well as to build a global springboard to reach halal markets around the world, especially in Asia and the Middle East. "This office will enable BRF to quickly establish and strengthen key relationships, gather critical information and accelerate its on-going business development and feasibility studies to invest in Malaysia and this will be completed in the next few months," he said in a statement. Cheng said BRF would also undertake further consumer research in Malaysia to gain consumer insights which would be translated into new innovative products from Malaysia to the world. Meanwhile, International of NTUC FairPrice International former chief executive officer Laurent Levan has been appointed as BRF Asia country manager for Malaysia and will head the office. Levan has over 20 years of experience in retail and wholesale trade in Asia. BRF S.A. is participating in the ongoing MIHAS International Trade Fair at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre which ends on April 2. --BERNAMA
