FEBFI Pledges Full Support To New BNM Governor

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (BERNAMA)-- The Federation of Trade Unions of Employees in Banking and Financial Institutions(FEBFI) has pledged its full support and cooperation to the new Bank Negara Malaysia (The Central Bank of Malaysia) Governor, Muhammad Ibrahim.
"We are delighted with his appointment and consider it a Labour Day gift to workers in the banking and financial Sectors," General Secretary, J. Solomon told Bernama here.
"We are certain that under his leadership, the country's financial and banking system will further improve and be on par with the best in the world," he said.
Muhammad succeeds Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz as the new BNM Governor effective May 1.
Solomon also expressed confidence that under the new Governor, the effectiveness of BNM as the regulatory agency of the country's internationally recognised financial system, will not only be continued, but further enhanced.
He congratulated Prime Minister Najib Razak for making a very apt decision which has been widely accepted both within and outside the country.
Solomon, who is also General Secretary of the National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE), recorded his sincere appreciation to Zeti for her exemplary services in helming the Central Bank for the past 16 years.
"Zeti not only strengthened and improved our financial and banking system, but also brought honour to the country, by being voted as the world's best Central Bank Governor," he said.
