Nuclear Malaysia Continues To Grow Into Highly Recognised Research Institue

KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 (Bernama) -- Nuclear Malaysia has grown into a highly recognised research institute with creditable achievements, including its internationally renowned research and development (R&D) output, says its director-general, Dr Muhammad Lebai Juri. "Numerous technologies and techniques generated from R&D have been transferred to the industries either through service provided or collaboration in commercialisation of products. "Many of these R&D products have also won merits and awards due to innovativeness and usefulness, locally and internationally," he said in his opening remarks at the 13th Post Graduate Educational Course (PGEC) on Radiation Protection & Safety of Radiation Sources Orientation Programme at a hotel near here Monday. He said Nuclear Malaysia had also received fellows from various parts of the world to be trained or attached to the experts, in addition to its researchers being appointed as international experts for technical missions in various parts of the world by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The Nuclear Malaysia Training Centre, in collaboration with the IAEA is organising the PGEC for the 13th time this year, aiming to broaden the understanding of current issues, in addition to providing training in new developments of technology and international perspectives. A total of 288 participants including 25 international participants have attended the course since its initiation in 2000. --BERNAMA
