Health Minister takes part in World Medical Association meeting

Geneva, May 24 (BNA): Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al Saleh and her accompanying delegation took part in the opening of the 69th session of the World Health Organisation (WHO)’s World Medical Association which is held in Geneva from May 23 to 28 under the presidency of Oman. WHO Director Dr. Margaret Chan thanked the Health Ministers and representatives of the participating countries for the efforts made to improve health conditions all over the world. She pointed out that most of the contagious diseases are no longer exclusive to a particular country or region but have become easily transmissible to any country due to demographic change caused by immigration. The Bahraini delegation spotlighted Bahrain's health achievements to meet the millennium goals and 2030 sustainable development schemes. The meeting also focused on key health-related issues and the need to further optimise health services. The Bahraini delegation also took part in the 64th regular Arab Health Ministers Council meeting which convened on the sidelines of 69th session of the World Medical Association. The GCC Health Ministers also participated in a coordination meeting which focused on new and important health issues.
