MALAYSIANS REMAIN BRAND LOYAL

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysians have maintained their brand loyalty despite the current economic climate, a recent survey by global market research company, Synovate revealed.

Over three quarters of Malaysians said they intended to use the same brand
of consumer products with little or no desire to switch to cheaper alternatives,
the research company said in a statement today.

Exploring consumer attitudes and perceptions on spending habits and the
economy, Synovate surveyed over 1,000 Malaysians in November last year from the
ages of 15 to 64 and acrosss all income levels, as part of a global "State of
the Economy" survey.

The managing director of Synovate Malaysia, Steve Murphy said Malaysians
indicated that they were loyal to the brands bought regularly, especially fast
moving consumer goods such as dairy products, staple food items, soft
drinks, canned foods, healthcare and cosmetic products.

The survey did find brand switching to be more prominent when it came to
alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.
