Ombudsman receives US Congress delegation

Manama, May 30 (BNA): Ombudsman Nawaf Mohammed Al Ma'awda received today a delegation from the US Congress and briefed them on the specialties of the Ombudsman Office, being the first of its kind in the region which was established to boost respect of human rights in the Interior Ministry's work as well as in monitoring the reform and rehabilitation and detention centres. The Ombudsman explained to the delegation the work mechanism of the office in communicating with the public and following up on complaints. The meeting was attended by Deputy Ombudsman Osama Al-Asfoor and International Cooperation and Development Director Ghada Habib.
