Thailand to see booming tourism in August

BANGKOK, August 4 (TNA) - The state-run Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) foresees a booming domestic tourism period this month, thanks to its campaign on "Travel with Mom" to promote family trips and strengthened bond on the auspicious occasion of the 84th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on August 12, which is also the Mother's Day in the country. Somchai Chomphunoi, TAT Director for the Central Region, held a press conference on the “Travel with Mom in August” campaign in Bangkok on Thursday, during which he projected that the number of Thai and foreign tourists in the country should grow by 11 per cent year-on-year this month, earning Thailand a total of over 271 billion baht tourism-related revenues. Somchai said the “Travel with Mom in August” campaign is aimed at boosting the Thai tourism and encouraging locals to travel in the country with their mothers and other members of their families. As part of the campaign, the TAT executive also invited Thais to take "selfie" photos with their mothers or members of their families at any tourist site in the country and post the photos on a TAT webpage, www.thailandhero.com, in a bid to win big prizes, namely a car or a large sum of cash rewards and several other gifts, through drawing lots.
