Bangkokians expected to spend 2.8 billion baht on Mother’s Day holiday

BANGKOK, Aug 5 (TNA) – The Kasikorn Research Center (KRC) projected that Bangkok’s residents spend about 2.8 billion baht during the National Mother’s Day holiday. Her Majesty Queen Sirikit is regarded as mother to all Thai people, thus her birthday on August 12 is also celebrated as the National Mother's Day and observed as a Thai national holiday. The Kasikorn think tank conducted a survey from July 1-30, among 405 respondents including Bangkok and non-Bangkok natives on their prospective spending on activities during the upcoming National Mother’s Day on August 12. This year, the KRC found that about 2.8 billion baht was expected to be circulated during the period, 3.7 per cent growth year-on-year. The three-day National Mother Day’s holiday will stimulate expenditures on activities such as dining out, travelling and buying gifts for mums. The money will be circulated into several related businesses. According to the survey, the most popular activity on the National Mother’s Day is eating out, followed by giving a garland, buying gifts for mothers and travelling with mothers respectively. (TNA)
