Taylor's Education Eyes Markets Beyond ASEAN

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- Private education provider Taylor's Education Group (TEG) plans to expand its operations beyond the ASEAN region. TEG president B.K. Gan, however, said that there was no fixed timeline for this as the group was currently focusing on launching its new campus in Singapore in 2019. "Our plans are to bring the Nexus International School brand not just to ASEAN but also to other regions as well," he told Bernama. The group, which is the parent organisation to some of the largest and most successful international schools in Malaysia and Singapore, has more than 6,000 students from 60 nations. Nexus International School launched their Singapore campus in 2011. It caters for children from pre-school to year 13 through the primary years programme, UK National Curriculum, International General Certificate of Secondary Education and IB Diploma programmes. The campus, now home to 700 students from 50 nationalities, will be relocated to a new state-of-the-art campus at Aljunied by end-2019. Its school in Malaysia's federal administrative centre Putrajaya, that can accommodate up to 1,000 students, is currently home to 700 students. In the recent World Economic Forum, it was reported that business and policy leaders have called for major education reforms in ASEAN to take advantage of its youthful demographics. On that note, Nexus International School is also one of the education institutions that widely uses technology as teaching methods. "We optimise the use of technology within the school community, with laptop or iPad learning platforms for all our students. "We do allocate specific operational amounts for technology applications at all our schools each year," he said. -- BERNAMA
