Chinese Investors Keen On Government-Awarded Construction Projects

PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia), Aug 8 (Bernama) -- Chinese investors are keen to invest in any government-awarded construction projects, says Malaysia China International Trade Link Association (MACITA). Its Vice-President, Lee Teck Meng, said the investors wanted to get involved in the projects and cooperate with companies, especially those who were awarded the projects by the government. "Apart from that, the the businessmen are also interested to invest in the technology industry, especially electrical and electronics (E&E) as well as the halal and property sectors. "Malaysia is an international E&E manufacturing hub and they specifically told us they wanted to know more about this sector and invest in it," he said. Lee, who is also Advisor to the Prime Minister's Department Secretariat For Advancement of Malaysia Entrepreneurs said this to reporters here today after a press conference to announce the Malaysia China Silk Road Economic Forum 2016. He said the businessmen also expressed interest in cooperation with halal and property industry players in Malaysia. The forum, organised by MACITA, will be held here on Sept 3, 2016. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will officiate it. Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Chua Tee Yong, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Dr Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah and Malaysia External Trade Development Corp Chief Executive Officer Dzulkifli Mahmud, are expected to attend. The event is expected to attract 150 business representatives from China's trade and industry associations and a business-matching and networking session is being organised. Lee said about 30 business representatives from various associations, such as Malay Chamber of Commerce, Fruit Farmers Association and those involved in construction, building, printing, textile will also participate in the event. "An International Entrepreneurs Excellent Award ceremony will be held during the gala dinner to honour the best industry players in different sectors like food and beverages; services; construction, and so on," he said. --BERNAMA
