Heads of Sectoral Working Groups Discuss Progress of Second National Development Strategy

Doha, August 09 (QNA) - The committee of heads of sectoral working groups responsible for the preparation and follow up the work of the Second National Development Strategy (2017-2022) held its first meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics. The meeting tackled several important topics related to the preparation and implementation of the Second Development Strategy, including the workflow of the sectoral working groups responsible for preparing the strategy, the most important developments and challenges facing the various sectors, and the means required to support the implementation of the strategy. HE Minister of Development Planning and Statistics Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al Nabet chaired the meeting which also discussed the overall structure of the strategy and reviewed the developments related to the implementation mechanisms, as well as the distribution of roles and responsibilities of members of the sectoral working groups, and creating and preparing all working teams in the implementation of the strategy. The meeting emphasized the importance of the commitment of all stakeholders to update the relevant strategic plan within the specified time frame for the launch of the National Strategy (2017-2022). Following the meeting, an expanded meeting was held with members of working teams who were nominated by the various ministries and other entities in the State. During the meeting, HE the Minister introduced the most recent and important developments regarding the work of the sectoral groups, and stressed the importance of role of each representative of the working groups in meeting the deadline for the preparation of the draft of the Second Development Strategy. HE the Minister underlined that the Second Development Strategy will be complementary and is based on the First Development Strategy, noting that Qatar National Vision 2030 was the starting point for all development plans. The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics seeks to urge all public and private national groups and civil society organizations to make more joint collaborative effort to contribute to the implementation of the plans and policies designed within the framework of the National Development Strategy to achieve the goals set out in Qatar National Vision, approved under the Emiri Decree No. (44) of 2008.
