Book Corner In Santiago Library Showcases Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- The so-called 'Malaysian Book Corner' designated by the Municipality of Colina at the Library of Colina, Santiago will attract more people in the city to learn about Malaysia.
The Malaysian Embassy in Santiago, Chile said the book corner displaying materials such as books, pamphlets and other Malaysian goodies was launched by the Malaysian Ambassador to Chile, Dr Mohamad Rameez and Colina’s Mayor, Don Marco.
"It is being named as the Malaysian Book Corner and is expected to attract people in Colina plus Chile to know more about Malaysia in a cost effective scenario," it said in a statement to Bernama, Thursday.
The launching was part of the Malaysian Promotional Activities event held Wednesday at the Library of Colina which is located 30 kilometres away from the Santiago city.
According to the statement, Mohamad Rameez was also given an opportunity to talk about Malaysia to more than 150 attendees including those from the Mayor's Office of Colina, the library personnel and students from the Secretary College of Colina.
The 2-hour event also involved tourism, investments and diplomacy engagement with the guests, cooking demonstration by the spouses of the diplomats of Malaysia in Santiago under the Perwakilan Ladies Santiago, and giving away the taste of Malaysia consisting of traditional kuih (cakes), fried mee hoon and 'teh tarik' (milk tea beverage) to participants.
