GECommunity 2016 To Generate Us$80 Million In Value Creation

By Zairina Zainudin KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- Some US$80 million in value creation is expected to be generated from the commercialisation of ideas at the Global Entrepreneurship Community (GECommunity) 2016, which will be held here on Nov 2-3. Chief Executive Officer Ashran Ghazi said eight industry clusters, comprising ecosystem builders, movers, investors, and entrepreneurs would gather at the event to explore strategic agendas and build better ventures within the development of micro-ecosystem. The GECommunity, which is a National Blue Ocean Strategy initiative, aims at becoming a high-level summit bringing ecosystem leaders, policy makers and community drivers together to reimagine and redesign the future of entrepreneurship. Organised by the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC), the GECommunity 2016 will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The clusters in the GECommunity include healthcare, lifestyle, media and entertainment, finance, food and agriculture, education, and logistics and transport, he told Bernama. He said each cluster would discuss ideas for initiatives that could help build and grow entrepreneurs in the strive to transform the sectors. "We expect each cluster to generate about US$10 million in value creation," he said. Ashran said the mashing up between industry players, policy makers and startups would allow better yield of new market-driven innovations. The GECommunity 2016, which is set to draw some 2,000 local and international participants, is expected to be launched by Prime Minister Najib Razak. --BERNAMA
